A surface-coating company in Maharashtra came to us for the air-supply fan of its paint line: 2,25,000 m³/h of supply air against 150 mmWC static. It is the largest single fan by airflow we have delivered, and the top of the flow envelope we publish.
A paint line lives on its air balance. The supply unit has to hold a steady volume into the booths as its filters load between changes, so the duty point must sit on the stable part of the fan curve, not at its edge.
The approved drawing states the duty in full: 2,25,000 m³/h at 150 mmWC static, air at 40 °C, on a site 560 m above sea level, rated at a density of 1.04 kg/m³ rather than the 1.2 kg/m³ of standard air. That correction is why altitude and temperature belong on every enquiry. The drawing also sets the noise: 85 dB (+3) at 1 m, inlet and outlet ducted.
One double-inlet, double-width centrifugal fan with a backward-inclined impeller, belt-driven at 770 rpm by a 215 HP, 4-pole IE3 motor rated for VFD duty, the motor in our scope. The shaft runs in spherical roller bearings in plummer blocks, the casing is split so the impeller can come out without lifting the whole fan, and both inlets carry mesh guards. Fan and motor sit on one base frame on anti-vibration mounts: about 5,650 kg with the motor.
The rotor is dynamically balanced to ISO 21940 G2.5, vibration is held to ISO 14694 category BV-3, and the first critical speed is at least 1.4 times the running speed. Testing to IS 4894 is written into the approved drawing. The finish: shot-blasted and phosphated, two coats of zinc-rich primer and a RAL 9002 top coat.
The same company had placed fans with us before. This one, the largest, followed them.
If your line needs supply or exhaust air at large volume, send us the duty or the GA drawing: flow, static, temperature and site elevation. We will tell you plainly whether it sits inside our envelope and how we would build it.

The double-inlet fan in this case study, photographed at our works before dispatch.
A single double-inlet centrifugal fan supplying 2,25,000 m³/h at 150 mmWC static to a paint line, belt-driven by a 215 HP motor. It sets the top of the flow envelope we publish.
A double-inlet, double-width wheel draws air from both sides, so it moves far more air than a single-inlet wheel of the same diameter and speed. At 2,25,000 m³/h that keeps the fan's size and running speed practical.
The duty was referred to standard air to read the fan curve, and the fan was rated at the site's real density: 1.04 kg/m³, for air at 40 °C on a site 560 m above sea level.
